Online Bingo is More Than Just a Game, it’s a Community

The rise of online bingo over the last few years has been phenomenal, and it has not only been restricted to the UK, the USA or any part of the Western hemisphere. Online bingo is truly a global industry. Countries such as India, Costa Rica, South Africa, Thailand and China to name a few have taken online bingo to their hearts. What makes Bingo so special then … is it the simplicity of such a wonderful game? The chance and expectation of winning a prize? Or the community to which you belong. In my view all three factors play an important role in the success of online bingo but it’s the community factor that makes it so special.

Why Online Community Is Important

The Internet is a truly social tool. Today, we can share many things online … videos, music and news items are just a click away. Online communities have always been important on the Internet. From the early days of Forums, where like minded people could interact and swap stories to modern social sites such as Facebook or MySpace. Instant Messaging took this interaction and upgraded it to real time conversations. Added smileys or emoticons, to convey human emotions such as laughing or anger, which sometimes could get lost in written translation.

It’s no wonder that Bingo added this feature to their online sites. Bingo sites that offer rich, interactive chat facilities, stand a much better chance of building a community than those that don’t. To put it bluntly, an online bingo site that has no community, is like a bingo games card without any numbers. They are a far less attractive proposition than a bingo site which nurtures and allows it’s community to interact with each other. It is this appeal that makes bingo players come back, again and again and again.
