Twitter Bingo
If you haven’t heard of Twitter, then here is a brief snapshot of what it is : Twitter is a micro-blogging or social network that allow people to post, for free, updates on what they are doing, watching, reading etc.. of of up to 140 characters in length. So far Twitter has been used by techno heads but recently is has started to go mainstream. Twitter has around 5 million users but that figure is expected to multiply many times over as the general public become more aware of its existence.
Personally I have used Twitter from way back in 2007 and used it as a social networking tool. For the sake of this article I wanted to show the real time use of Twitter in gathering information relative to a marketplace in this case : Bingo!
Twitter can give me the latest news (however, obscure) on all topics relative to the keyword ‘Bingo’. As an example I found out that :
There is a Bingo night at The BigFoot Lodge ???
Wink Bingo has released a new social site, ‘WinkME’, which allows its users to interact and upload photos etc…
Mecca Bingo has raised over £280k in 2008 for Whizz-Kidz charity, and aim to reach £1/2 million by end of 2009!
How to play and print off my Boardroom Bingo cards…
Stephen Fry talk about the English language and how the buzz word Bingo is associated with that…
That Wink Bingo – Bingo Site of 2008 ???
Someone is freezing and stuck in a room so has decided to read bingo blogs to help pass the time…
A blog post on how to sew your own bingo bag ???
And someone just won $250 at bingo …
This is real time interaction and the large bingo sites should be aware that this is a great way to connect with their players. If ever there was a tool to check the pulse of what the community of a marketplace where thinking about in real time then Twitter is as close to that as you can possibly imagine.
