Bingo Trends : Digital Evolution

Change happens for a number of reasons, mostly to make our lives easier and to keep up with standards. The gaming environment is no different and you could say it is living in ‘interesting times’, with more focus being placed on playing games online than ever before. Why the need for the UK’s favourite pastime to go digital you ask? The simple answer is access. People can log onto their favourite online bingo site whenever they feel the urge and play bingo in the luxury of their living room, on their laptop in a cyber cafe’ or even on their iPhone taking the bus home from work. This is the way a majority of people play bingo nowadays and it will grow in strength in future years as the console playing, download generation grow up.

Where does that leave the bricks and mortar bingo halls then? Personally, I can’t see them fading from our landscape any time soon. There is a core of bingo players who love going to their favourite hall and socialising with their buddies while playing bingo. It’s a great place to meet and greet family and friends and catch up on all the latest gossip (sorry, news). I see online bingo halls more as an extension of these big name halls rather than a replacement.

Playing bingo is fun, and that has always been the main focus of the game. The digital evolution is just another trend that bingo has accepted and nurtured quite well. Online bingo also offers the chance to chat with people out-with your area and brings more colour and life to a persons online experience. For me, the fact that online bingo is becoming more and more a talking point is most welcoming indeed and hopefully the trend will continue to grow from strength to strength.
