Everybody Loves A Bingo Winner

Manchester’s famous theatre will soon be opening its doors as a bingo hall, The Royal Exchange Theatre will, from the 3rd of July be hosting the play “Everybody loves a Winner” written by Neil Bartlett.

This play is set in the traditional land based bingo hall and will feature Sally Lindsay (Shelly Unwin) from the soap Coronation Street. The theatre which has been ‘kitted out’ to resemble a traditional bingo will even have slots in the foyer.

Ms Lindsay has admitted to the Manchester Evening News that she has become quite a fan of bingo saying “you go in get a cup of tea and a sandwich then play bingo, its fascinating to watch some of the women with all their cards, what coordination, I now love going to bingo”.

The play which will be run as part of the Manchester International Festival will combine music, drama and dance will take a sideways look at this much loved pastime. The play is scheduled to run for 1 month.
